Summer is still a great time to come see what’s happening at Eastpointe Health & Fitness!

Around the Hook Today – July 2010

Yes, it’s hot but that’s no reason to stop exercising.  In fact, working out in EPH&F’s air conditioned spaces is a cooler and safer way to exercise during these hazy, humid days of summer.  And, now EPH&F has added new classes and additional times to keep workouts fun and varied.  “We are continually exploring and implementing new classes, new workshops and new fitness methodologies to help members have fun while reaching their fitness goals,” said EPH&F Owner/Manager, Paul Mazzella.  “We also listen to our member’s suggestions and as a result have expanded our class schedule.”

New Group Fitness Classes

“Because of the success of the Zumba Workshops, we have now added Zumba and Zumba Gold classes to our regular group fitness schedule,” said Mazzella.  On Monday evenings and Wednesday mornings, join in this dynamic dance fitness program that uses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to–follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that can really produce results.  Zumba Gold is for beginners, active older adults  and less conditioned participants.

“We have also added a Wednesday evening Kickboxing class and an earlier Pilates class,” said Mazzella.  “We now offer Yoga eight times a week and Spin eight times a week and don’t forget about our ongoing workshops.  This summer’s sessions include Sunrise Yoga on the beach and Boot Camp.  With the addition of the new classes, EPH&F now offers 38 group fitness classes a week!

Sunrise Yoga

“Enjoy the natural beauty of our area in the early morning with our Sunrise Yoga,” said Mazzella.  “Weather permitting classes will be held Saturday mornings from 7:00 – 8:00 am on the beach in Seabright.  It’s a great way to start the day.  You can pay the drop in fee and attend any class that works with your schedule.”

Boot Camp

“Originally named “Boot Camp” because it resembled the physical training of a soldier, this type of workout is an efficient way to exercise your entire body by going from one exercise to another with no rest. It involves calisthenics at a high intensity,” said Mazzella.  “In boot camp, your challenge is to take your body to its limit. You work hard and you burn calories like crazy!”  Boot Camp is held every other Sunday morning from 8:45am – 10:00am and the drop in fee applies here as well.

Welcome New Trainers

“We are very pleased and excited to welcome two new personal trainers to the EPH&F family,” said Mazzella.  “Hank Dean and Brian Bott have come on board and are ready to help members reach their fitness goals.  The addition of these two experienced professionals brings our training department up to 9 personal trainers, which allows us to accommodate even the busiest client’s schedule.  It also allows us to draw upon a wide variety of training styles, expertise and personalities to get the best match for our clients.”

Group Training

“Group training is the most cost effective way to receive the benefits of a personal trainer here at EPH&F,” said Mazzella. “You can save up to 50% depending on how many people you train with.  You get the incredible benefits of working with a personal trainer as well as the camaraderie and support of a training partner. You can choose a friend, spouse or other family member as your training partner or we can find another member that is a good match for you based on your age, fitness level and experience.”

Real Results Fall Session

“If you want to start an exercise program, get in better shape or lose weight and be successful then sign up for our Fall Real Results Program coming September 26th,” said EPH&F Nutritionist and Program Administrator, Kim Garrity.  “This is our 12th Real Results program and in each session we’ve seen participants not only achieve their goals but change their lives.”  Real Results is an eight week program that focuses not only on weight loss but on improving overall health through balanced nutrition and exercise. Participants receive individualized workouts and nutrition plans designed to fit their needs and ensure they stay on track as well as group workouts with EPH&F trainers, group meetings, seminars, weekly check-ins, workout logging as well as an online food tracking system. “As a result of this approach, participants see a reduction not only in weight but other health indicators such as body measurements and body fat,” said Garrity.

2nd Annual “Eastpointe Raising Hope” Event

Businesses at the Eastpointe Shopping Center in Atlantic Highlands came together for the charity event “Eastpointe Raising Hope” to raise money to improve the lives of children facing challenging circumstances. This fun-filled family oriented event  held in the Eastpointe Shopping Center parking lot included DJ entertainment, a giant inflatable slide, dunk tank and other rides, games, and attractions, in addition to raffles, silent auctions, and giveaways.  Raffles included tickets for four lucky winners to the Bon Jovi and Kid Rock concert on July 9th at the new Meadowlands Stadium. The tickets were only $5 each and 100% of the proceeds went to charity.  In addition, Eastpointe Health & Fitness held a pre-event Spin-a-thon and gave chair massages with the proceeds going to charity.

Hope for Children Foundation NJ was founded by a group of young entrepreneurs who wanted to make a difference in the lives of children enduring challenging circumstances. To date HFCF has donated over three quarters of a million dollars to local charities and families in need of assistance in Monmouth County. Now more than ever the foundation needs the support of local businesses and individuals as budgets are being cut while the needs of the children keep growing.

“It’s our way of giving back to the community,” said Mazzella. “ It especially feels good to be helping children and making their lives better.”  Peter Ruvolo of Ruvolo’s Pizza and Restaurant  has been instrumental in liaising with the charity and Eastpointe businesses to put the event together. “It’s great that more and more businesses are pulling together to make a difference through a wonderful charity,” says Ruvolo.  Proceeds from rides, games, and attractions, as well as raffles and silent auctions benefited the Hope for Children Foundation NJ. Ryans Run

“EPH&F was also a proud sponsor of Ryan’s Run, which took place the day before the Eastpointe Charity Event,” said Mazzella. “Ryan’s Run is a wonderful annual event and this year saw a record number of attendees and managed to raise close to $50,000.”  The proceeds from the run go to the Ryan Andrew Kaiser Memorial Foundation ( RAKMF) who’s mission is to support families of seriously ill children, construct memorial playgroups and playrooms and the raise money for hospitals and doctors’ groups that specialize in the cure and care of pediatric heart patients.

EPH&F Is Your One-Stop Shop For Cost-Effective Fitness

“Having a healthy, fit body, mind and spirit not only feels good but it can improve your quality of life, productivity, confidence and sense of wellbeing,” said Mazzella.  “Investing in a fitness program also helps you save money in healthcare costs and work loss.  At EPH&F, we can also help you save by offering special intro packages; small group training so you can experience a personal trainer at a reasonable cost; and by teaching fitness the right way with a supportive staff,  we can help you achieve your goals faster and with better results.
