When Karen joined Eastpointe at 39, she was focused on achieving a healthier lifestyle while trying to get pregnant. Given her age, she was uncertain about her pregnancy journey and wanted to be in the best possible shape. Additionally, Karen had always dreamed of being able to do a pull-up someday.
Despite playing sports in high school, Karen had never done any strength training. The idea of using machines and weight training was intimidating to her. However, she was drawn to the idea of working with our trainers at Shore Results. Just a few months after joining, Karen won one of our body transformation challenges, quickly realizing how effective our nutrition and strength training programs were.
Karen’s dedication paid off when she got pregnant and continued training through her second trimester. With the support of our amazing trainers, who adapted to her needs throughout her pregnancy, Karen safely exercised and stayed fit. She also benefited from the acupuncture, physical therapy, and chiropractic services available next door, which helped her address any issues that arose during and after her pregnancy.
At 40, Karen gave birth to her daughter and found herself stronger and more energized than ever. As an older mom, she is now able to keep up with her daughter, lift and carry her with ease, and even hike up mountains together.
Karen also gained valuable knowledge about nutrition with our Nutritionist, Katy. She learned about the importance of macros and meal timing to keep her blood sugar and hormones balanced. While she admits she’s not perfect, following these guidelines has significantly improved her mood, reduced cravings, and positively impacted her body composition.
After the pandemic, Karen returned to her training and, at 46 years old, she now boasts the lowest body fat percentage since high school. She has built muscle, grown stronger, and takes pride in her training achievements.
One of the aspects Karen loves most about Eastpointe is our free childcare service. It allows her to bring her daughter along, showing her the importance of prioritizing health and well-being. This time is also a cherished moment of self-care for Karen as a busy working mom.
As for her goal of doing pull-ups, Karen is well on her way and continues to make progress.
