As a family owned and operated business it is always extraordinary when we have families working out together at our gym. The Krzycki family has a long history with Eastpointe which even includes one of them being on the Eastpointe staff!
Tom and Wendy joined the gym in the fall of 2016. Their 9-year+ history includes various challenges, training programs, pounds lost, and muscle gained. Setting a healthy example for their two daughters, Emma and Addison, has always been a big part of their mission. Evidently, they did a great job focusing on health, when both girls joined the gym in January of 2020! In 2024, Emma was also hired as an employee on our childcare staff and quickly moved onto Front desk responsibilities.
Team based challenges presented another positive opportunity for the Krzycki’s to continue their healthy journey as a family. With Emma now working at the club and getting ready for college, she began to work out and focus on healthy eating. Emma was instrumental in getting the family involved in the challenge. “The best part of the competition is that it keeps us accountable to our health goals and each other!” explained Wendy after their most recent participation as a team in the January Challenge in which they won 3rd place overall and tied for first place in the Moove Challenge.
During this challenge, Wendy and her daughters also received on-site nutrition support to help with their results. Wendy felt the nutritional support was instrumental on several fronts. It helped to streamline the cooking process with everyone eating different meals. Also, Addison, now in 10th grade and having been a vegetarian since 4th grade, is a picky eater but is also playing travel volleyball, basketball and flag football. Addi needed more protein. Katy, Eastpointe’s nutritionist, gave her great ideas to incorporate more protein, allowing her to make meals that were healthy and helped change some ongoing sleep issues.
As a working Mom, Wendy needed to make herself a priority. “I was always putting everyone else first. This challenge has been key. Baby steps with making changes has been very important.” During a recent vacation she even went to the gym every day, ate fish and made great health choices all while enjoying her time away and relaxing.
Tom started his health kick a few years ago during a prior challenge. Since then, he has lost 35-40lbs. His biggest obstacle is work travel. He now buys pre-made healthy meals and hits the hotel gym or walks while away!
Overall, family workouts are a fantastic way to improve physical health, strengthen family bonds, and create lasting memories, all while promoting healthy habits and encouraging teamwork. Cheers to the Krzycki family for their recent wins and their commitment to health!
